Amazing service and nice atmosphere! Large portions and definitely worth the price. Great meal and kind servers c:

I am super picky when it comes to my sushi so after trying out all the sushi restaurants around the area of New Orleans, Metairie, Kenner, and who knows where else, I found a tucked away gem in a beautiful neighborhood of river ridge. I absolutely love their innovative sushi rolls like the upside down roll and not to mention the pages of different rolls you can choose from. I've tried a variety of their rolls and it never gets boring - there's always something new. I'm also a huge sweet tooth so when I saw that they had a CLOUD 9 dessert? (Didn't know what it was, but the name of it got me) it was the perfect balance of something fluffy (like a cloud) and sweet with the perfect amount of drizzled sauce on top. I always have to order the cloud 9 to top off my meal - no matter how full I am. Oh and if anyone is a huge salad eater like me, TRY THE AMY SALAD! It's so good! :) sadly I always finish my food before I take photos - so I'll try next time to capture the salad - it's definitely a must try if you like fresh ingredients and lots of crunchy bits of veggies in them. Not to mention that the sauce has a perfect balance of something spicy and savory. I'd like to end this review by saying that the customer service always exceeds my expectations. They're always busy when I go for dinner and even though all the servers have so many people to tend to - they are always attentive and ask if I ever need anything refilled, if I'd like to try something new (they always make awesome recommendations), the hostesses are actively greeting you and saying goodbye while they're multi-tasking with 5 other things. I love the atmosphere and the food. I give them 5 stars

Delicious. Sushi is always fresh, Gyoza is always cooked well (a lot of places burn the dumplings) and have excellent sauce, and the chicken hibachi is very well seasoned. It's a little too pricey for me to eat very often, but you get what you pay for. I typically call in a to go order, so I don't have much to say service-wise.

..... it was worth the 45 min drive. seriously. first thing our server said was "did y'all really just drive all the way out here for sushi?" umm not just any sushi... Taste of Tokyo's. It was worth it -queues Fifth Harmony "Worth It" chorus- . So anyways, we were actually short on time bc we had to meet w/ friends at the movie theater so we couldn't order the awesome things we wanted to but the what the server recommended was still so good. We had the scallop appetizer with spinach, baked mussels, pepper tina sashimi, and some roll that the server plated with fire in the center like shazaaaam! think it might be the Kenny Roll or something idk it was bomb. I posted the pics on yelp so y'all can check it out. OMG... it was alll so good. I wanna come back again! And of course, the service was excellent. 5 stars well deserved I just wish they were closer maneeeeeeee.

Went here at around 7 ish, and there was a decent crowd here. We ordered a lot of sushi. Way too much. Lol. Appetizers: The shrimp tini was adorb and pretty tasty. The calamari was tasty as well. There was also the shrimp tempura (?). Sushi: The upside down roll, angry bird, LSU (?), and another roll were all good. Sorry I can't remember exactly which is which. This is what happens when you don't write the review in time. All the sushi were fresh and looked aesthetically pleasing. The service was pretty good and attentive as well. I especially like how the owner moved around and talked to the customers. Parking was plentiful since this strip wasn't too busy when we stopped by for dinner. But it was around Christmas or on Christmas Day (again, I can't remember--lol) so I can't say otherwise for other times.

Quick service for a Friday! Large selection of delicious rolls. friendly attentive servers.
(5)Karsen K.
I'm not a huge fan of sushi, but I actually eat it at a Taste of Tokyo and enjoy it. Everything I've eaten here was excellent. The staff is attentive and fun to socialize with. My favorite items: Shrimptini Baked Salmon Upside Down Roll Combination yaki udon Cloud 9 dessert (when in stock) There aren't really words to explain each dish, they're just items you should try for yourself.
(5)Mike T.
I worked here and ate here many times before and the food was EXCELLENT! I would so pigged out during my breaks and after I got out off of the work. Sushi are freshly made, clean, precise & delicious! The sushi here are different from other sushi places bc they would make/invent new rolls and have people try it out. Entrees & appetizer are also very good as well. The last time I ate here was 3 years ago. So I went back to TOT recently and the food is still good, BUT the staff (hostess & busboys) were kind of rude. They didn't give us any warm welcoming, but instead stares.. o.0 the food is still good, but new staff members are a no no! But I will come back tho. ^____^
(4)Kristi K.
Just ate there, and it was soooo delicious! Such a great variety, and the service is so fast and thorough, the second a plate was cleared someone came to pick it up. We briefly met the owner, and he is so welcoming! Will definitely be eating here regularly.
(5)Amanda C.
We love this local place. The service is always great, the food is very good, and the price is the same price you pay for sushi all over town (except here it's worth it!). This restaurant has more than just sushi rolls, and you can even order smaller dishes to get out of here without feeling a hit to your wallet. This place is great for a quick stop for a solo meal, a date, or dinner with a group. Leave room for dessert, too!
(5)Toni M.
Well done. Fresh sushi. I had the GB roll and the Mardi Gra roll. Excellent! The waiter helped me sort through the 6 pages of choices. Well worth the trip.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to review this place. Let's start off by saying that all of the staff here is probably sick of me. They see me all of the time. I always bring in different people with me because there's so much to try! However, if you are a first timer, here are things you need to order. MUST. Appetizer- Calamari Snowcrab ( a mixture of fried calamari and Snowcrab with eel sauce drizzled over, if you like saucy get more eel sauce on the side) Shrimptini (fried shrimp tossed in a delicious, sweet, and savory sauce, served in a cute martini glass and lettuce) Rolls- UPSIDE DOWN ROLL- no matter what you do, no matter what your budget, if this is the only thing you can afford then order it. It is by far the best tasting sushi I have ever had to enjoy in my life. I've grown up with many sushi lovers and have eaten at pretty much every sushi joint popular in Nola and Lafayette. And this is the best roll ever. As weird as it sounds, sushi rolls aren't a highlight of many restaurants. They focus on dishes and appetizers, falling short on the taste of their rolls, no matter how nice the presentation. This sushi joint checks right with the taste, presentation, service, and overall experience. TIPS & other items to order Go on Thursday for buy one get one free hot sake. You might see me there. Birthday roll, Poboy roll, ormond roll, burning man roll, beef tataki
(5)Nick A.
This place is definitely one of the best sushi places I have been to. It is definitely the best I have been to in New Orleans, by far. The appetizers are diverse, and we have never had anything bad. In fact, no matter what, I am always ordering the squid steak appetizer. If you like squid, the squid steak appetizer CRUSHES. No local comparison. There are plenty of entrees, including hibachi and the like, but the sushi is the star. There are more rolls here than can reasonably be consumed. I mean, it goes on for pages. Highlights are the Garlic Lover's Roll and the Super Bowl Roll, for sure. The specials are usually pretty great as well. The staff here is excellent. Always on top of their game, very friendly, and very helpful. Highly recommend, will be back.
(5)Hai L.
I came here after work and sat at the bar. The owner was nice enough to hold a long conversation. All of the staff seem happy and I left drunk.
(5)Danielle V.
My favorite sushi joint! Love all of their specialty rolls! + good prices, very clean inside, and nice staff.
(5)Kris A.
Soooo I returned only to be disappointed. Their prices and quality do not match. Everything we ordered was sub par. We asked the chef to create a specialty roll and he mindlessly copied a simple roll off the menu. The atmosphere was dull matching the employees attitudes. The complimentary soup was hot water with a dash of soy sauce. I won't be back.
(2)Ana G.
The service was awesome. I went with a group of friends and we had a great experience. The owner was so personable and friendly. The food was delicious. I had the poboy sushi and it was so good. We tried the shrimptini and the fried bananas for dessert. Divine. I definitely recommend and will go again.

I want to start this review by saying that I visited this place when we had just come off of a Saints loss in the playoffs. My spirits were down, so when my friend suggested this sushi place, I thought that would be the perfect thing to make me feel better. We went and were seated immediately, even though it was a Saturday. They have so many yummy sounding things on the menu. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what was in the rolls we ordered and the roll descriptions aren't on the online menu, so I'll do my best to relay what we had. The waitress brought out a complimentary clear soup while we looked over the menu, which is always a nice touch. We decided to order a bunch of special rolls and some sashimi. We got the escalar sashimi, which I had never had before but was really good. We also ordered the lettuce wrap roll. This refreshing roll and zero rice but instead was crab meat with lettuce wrapped around it. It was really good and refreshing. I don't remember what all was in the Niki roll, but I do remember that it was fried with shrimp and then topped with a delicious sauce. It was huge and I loved it. Finally, the Coco roll contained coconut shrimp and cream cheese, which sounds like a weird combo, but was fantastic. Ooh! And as a small bite we got a salmon roe roll that was delicious. It was a lot of food, but fortunately we had brought our appetites and we were able to finish pretty much everything. I would definitely go back to Taste of Tokyo. I loved everything I had and I am eager to try other menu items.
(5)Mallory E.
I went here with a bunch of coworkers and I got a salad, chicken hibachi and an iced tea. The price was over $20 which seemed pretty steep for lunch. I do want to go back to try the rolls.
(3)Mike W.
Great place for lunch, Gary and his staff always bring their A game when it comes to service. Didn't get a cache to try all items on the menu but have some very interesting eats.
(5)Sam R.
Staff were courtious and nice. But rolls were avg at the best with over priced for the portion. As a pilot, I travel a lot and been to many Japanese restaurant all over the US. They got 3 star purely for their good svc. Not necessarily food.
(3)Amy E.
Been here several times since they opened and have to agree with the majority of the reviews. This place has some of the best selection of rolls I have ever seen. It has enough of a variety to appeal to the "no raw fish" crowd. The shrimptini appetizer is awesome. I could eat their Coco Roll and Bailout Roll every day for the rest of my life and not get sick of either one. The service has always been top notch. My husband and I have become regulars, and most of the wait staff recognizes us and already know what we want to drink before we even sit down. They keep the table cleared, but don't hover. Excellent service. I honestly love everything about this place, and hope they stick around for a very, very long time!
(5)Denver M.
Sushi in River Ridge ...I assume this means my neighborhood is now cosmopolitan. The truck farmers who grew grocery crops here fifty years ago (we still have a neighborhood called Little Farms) would be surprised their descendants are now eating raw fish prepared in the Japanese style - but they would appreciate the freshness. The location has plenty of parking, good service and an extensive menu. Prices are reasonable. Denver Mullican

This has got to be a trick. There is so no way this is more than a 2 star. Awful devices, terrible atmosphere: think music that seriously sounds like a mix of "random 00s awful hits". It was a mixture of nelly furtado, the fray, and Lady Marmalade. When I asked for a coke I got coke in a CAN that I had to pour myself. The food was bland and the noodles mushy. The sushi was mushy too and kept falling apart. Further the service was awful and the food was pricey for crap: think over 40 dollars for two people. Worst food I've had in New Orleans. The msg and oil was so heavy that I felt majorly heavy and sick afterwards also. NEVER GO HERE. I wish I asked for my money back. I thought I was being punked. OH and my "crawfish egg roll" was microwaved and soggy and ALL cabbage with two tiny decrepit boiled crawfish inside. It was just like a soggy pile of poorly seasoned cabbage. Grosses me out thinking about it. (Ps I'm even a foodie and I'm not picky, and have never even left a review on yelp before; but I know awful unhealthy mushy microwave food when I see it and this made me soo mad!!!)
(1)Monique L.
I met friends here for cocktails and appetizers and was very pleased. We had the fried calamari with snow crab on top, what a great combination of flavors. The calamari was fried differently than I've had at Italian restaurants. It was not tempura, either, it was like it was fried in breadcrumbs or something. Very crispy and different. The snow crab was good, not too mayonnaise-y. Was a great complement to the calamari. The cocktails were good. I forgot what I had, though. I liked it a lot, need to find an excuse to go out to River Ridge again.

I went not long after the grand opening. The restaurant looks big on the outside but was pretty small on the inside. The rolls I had were ordinary, but my chirashi dinner failed to impress me. They used cheap frozen tuna it seemed and the portion was small. I can get rolls anywhere, but it's hard to come back to a place that doesn't serve the best fresh fish.
(2)Jared M.
Best sushi in Louisiana hands down the service the food everything is great highly recommended

Ok this place is close by has great food what I really do love are the people there I'm really good friends with the waiter and has amazing prices

This is kind of in a weird location for a restaurant. If you live in River Ridge you'll be happy to have this quality dining option nearby your residential area! Grudginess of dining experience is worn like a badge of honor in New Orleans. However, dining in a restaurant like Taste of Tokyo - an immaculate Japanese restaurant, is enjoyable from time to time. Very tidy and pleasant interior. I agree with a previous reviewer - we had no less than 5 chipper college kids waiting on us. I didn't mind this, but did find it amusing. The menu options were vast and innovative. The beer was cheap ($2.95 for domestic, $3.50 for import and microbrews). The food came out promptly and was well-presented. We went with the Calimari appetizer, Jalipeno appetizer, Coco Rolls, Upside Down Roll, Mango Salmon roll. Appetizers were just ok, rolls were very good. I was with a group so decided to go with rolls so unfortunately I can't report back about the sashimi. I wouldn't drive from the city to dine here, but worth a try if you happen to be in this neck of the woods. One side note - there was this girl who was all Tokyo street-styled out. I'm a lover of Japanese fashion so for me this qualified as good people-watching. She had this kind of thing going on: japanesestreets.com/regi… . I want to be that cool in my next life.

My other review was Great... Every time we go it is usually great. This time, I wish I would have stayed home. After an hour passed we finally got our appetizers. One was cold. I had to make my presence known for my second beer. The beer we only ordered because we were starving. It was a sad experience because I love this place and it is so close to home. They were very friendly as usual and addressed the issue by apologizing... and bringing a free desert of fried Oreos. Being a personal trainer that went there for the light and healthy food, that kind of sucked LOL... but I was determined to make the best of the visit. Surprisingly it was really good LOL In all, both of us having been in the service industry in the past assumed either the meal would be comped or at least generously discounted. It wasn't. We didn't say anything, it happens... but hopefully never again. The 1 star for the fact that the new food we tried was good and the 2nd star for the always friendly staff. We just hope it was a freak occurrence.
(2)David M.
This place is nice place to go and eat. It is your typical sushi restaurant. They have rolls just like everyone else sushi, miso soup, etc... They have their specialty rolls that they created like most sushi places have their own creations which where very good. The thing i love the most from them is not their sushi, but their honey with roasted pecans shrimp plate, this plate is very good, we usually get a plate of this when we go there and just share it like we do the rolls and sushi with everyone at the table. The staff is very friendly and they all roam around checking to make sure everything is ok. I know some sticklers out there don't like that but it works for their little place and yes once in a while you do end up with a wrong dish but they correct it very quickly, we don't get upset about it because they have always been very friendly there.
(3)Keri L.
This is now our regular Friday place! The service is awesome. Clark and the rest of the guys are great and I love the variety. There's always something new to try. If you're not sure what to order, just ask them and they will find something perfect for you.
(5)Timmy V.
Best Japanese restaurant in New Orleans! If you have never been here, well you're missing out! Start off with the shrimptini appetizer, fried shrimp covered with an amazing sweet sauce served on lettuce in martini glass. One of my favorite rolls is the Upside-down roll. Just try it! What's special about this place is not only the fresh sushi, but they have family-friendly workers that'll make you feel right at home.
(5)Elizabeth P.
Love this place! Try the Burning Man and the Tuna Classic rolls... Some of the best sushi I have ever had!!!
(5)Shuo H.
Dear Gary, please be my friend so your success can rub off on me! Haha. Mi madre had a craving for sushi, and since I'm a person who'd rather try some place new rather than go with the familiar, we decided to come here, and what a pleasant surprise it was. The sushi was uber fresh, with the Burning Man being the best I've eaten in a while. I don't get how other sushi places can get such high ratings if there's places like this out here in New Orleans. Though a little pricey, it was worth it. What I really liked was that even though there were a lot of choices (I get bombarded too often with too many choices, which isn't good for an indecisive diner such as myself) was that all the waitstaff who were roaming the floor were beyond helpful in helping us choose what we wanted to eat. The service here is amazing, best we've been treated in New Orleans. Since everything about this dining experience surpassed expectations, I GUESS I'll forgive the owner for thinking that I was a mere 15 year old when in actuality I'm only a year younger than him. Boo. See this is why I feel like I need to wear make up... so strangers don't think I'm still going through puberty (-.-)"

Taste of Tokyo opened in River Ridge just a few months ago and they still have some things to iron out. First, service was odd. We didn't seem to have an assigned waiter. Instead five or six of them would wander around the dinning room, checking on everyone. I believe this is what lead to some confusion when they brought out our order and had the dishes and sides mixed up between patrons. Also, neither the staff nor the menu was very clear about what comes with the lunch specials. Some get a bowl of rice, some do not. I asked if they came with miso, which is pretty standard in most Japanese restaurants and was told that my soup for my lunch was the clear soup that was brought out as a complimentary start when we were seated. Complaints about the service aside, the food was excellent. We were served a sample size of their cucumber martini, which was very refreshing. If I wasn't going back to work at the end of the meal I would have ordered one. Or two. I ordered the chirashi sushi lunch special. You can see a picture of it above in the photo gallery. I'm used to chirashi being a flattened bed of seasoned rice in a bowl with seafood on top of it so this presentation was novel and fun. The salad didn't have the standard chunky orange "ginger" dressing Japanese places all seem to have, rather it was more of a vinaigrette. Tasty and new, which is always good. Taste of Tokyo has a few wrinkles to iron out and once they get those settled this can easily be a four or five star place.
(3)Mamie L.
My husband and I used to frequently go to a sushi restaurant down the street. We decided to switch it up, and I'm SO glad we did. Taste of Tokyo has a huge selection of innovative rolls, and the service is the best we've ever had. We go to Taste of Tokyo at least once a week. This is a must try!
(5)Ane T.
This place opened up about a few months ago and a friend wanted to check this place out. I believe this is their second location. Space is a little small but they made perfect use with what they have at hand. Decorum was fresh and clean ( hellooo, new restaurant!). Food and service was great as well! Loved the shrimptini appetizer thingy. Sorta reminded me of a shrimp pecan they have at Wasabi. Their rolls were nice and big with loads of flavor. Overall, I'll be back!
(3)Paulina N.
I am now really happy to say that ToT's new location in River Ridge is now open! Of course, I went to the grand opening (which was today, 1/12/12). Upon entering, I was told that a table will be ready in about 30 minutes, but I was seated in 20 :) this location's size looks about the same as the original, only prettier. The bar area was nicely designed, but the dining area is a little tight. However, when sitting in a booth, I was a bit too far from the table, so I had to sit at the edge of the chair to eat :( Before getting started with anything, the server brought out clear soups for my table. What a great way to start dinner on a cold night! We got started with the edamame, which was covered in salt. I don't mind it though. I ordered the Birthday Cake and the Filet Mignon roll for my mother. I really enjoyed the Birthday Cake (4/5), but it contained just slightly too much snowcrab. It's a pretty big roll too so be prepared to eat like it's your birthday. Secondly, I don't think meat and sushi mix well together, but I gave the Filet Mignon roll (3/5) a try since we ordered it. The small piece of filet mignon melted with the rest of the sushi, and I almost changed my mind about meat and sushi. Almost. I didn't like that it was peppery or that it didn't have enough crunch to it. I think it could've used something crunchy to give it some texture, like cucumbers or asparagus. Besides those two items, I must say that everything I ordered from my first visit to ToT tasted exactly the same: fresh and delicious. That makes me happy because it means that the food will consistently taste awesome. The pepper tuna sashimi, upside down roll, and calamari crunchy are my favorites *insert heart here* To read my more complete review on their Destrehan location and other menu items, go here bit.ly/z01QWi

Went on a Friday night and boy was it busy! Super friendly staff... now here goes the review. Before you go, look up the sushi menu. I have never been so overwhelmed with a menu in my entire life. I ended up ordering about 5 different types of crunchy rolls, which was not what I had meant to do. Had a couple with raw tuna and salmon in them and felt cheated...the fish was practically invisible in the rolls. It was very small portions for sushi. The baked seafood which was good- very good- but different from other places. TOT cuts their seafood and mushrooms in tiny bite size pieces where as Mikimoto, Tennou, etc gives you chunks of fish, salmon... pricey to say the least. Spent over 100.00 on a few rolls of sushi. Might go back but next time, study the book, I mean menu, first.
(3)Hannah J.
The sushi I had was good. However It did not have any raw fish in it, so I can't really judge this restaurant quite yet. The menu states that their rolls have snow crab, which turned me off because I personally like imitation crab more. But I sucked it up and ordered a roll with "snow crab" in it. My fiancé also ordered an appetizer that had "snow crab" both of our dishes were made with imitation crab, which I was happy with, but the menu shouldn't state that their food is made with snow crab, when it isn't.

I was staying in River Ridge for a few weeks and was lucky enough to try Taste of Tokyo out. I returned no less than four times in the short span I was there and each visit was perfect. The staff is impeccable about their customer service and I was always greeted at the door like an old friend. The sushi itself was amazing!! Rarely have I seen such a combination of attention to aesthetic detail, taste, and originality in the creation of their dishes. A few that must be tried are the upside down roll, the toto roll, the playboy roll, and the squid steak and shrimptini appetizers. I can't wait until I'm in the area to drop by again!
(5)Michael L.
Wow, Great Place. Wait staff was excellent. Portions were HUGE! I ordered thinking that it was the usual Oriental fare...WOW...my small order covered the table! Sushi was excellent...my friends noodle and Beef dish was excellent also. I tried also some tempura dishes...perfect. The batter was original and soo delicious. Really this place is a must try...Reasonable prices...great food. Excellent staff.
(4)Jordan B.
Seriously? People rated this 4 stars? I couldn't believe how gross the food was.. $15 for a sub par sushi roll? Am I gonna be able to feel my asshole after this? MSG lvl 1000
(1)Gen L.
Amazing! Best sushi placed I have been to. Many cooked and raw options. There was such a variety and some creative options. Every meal came with a miso soup, which I always appreciate. The prices were average. They exceed others in quality. The service was excellent. They were all positive with team attitude. And they all had personality. My friends were able to go far more often than I did and they really notice the regulars.
(5)Victoria T.
finally got a chance to check this place out! I got the calamari with snowcrab, upside down roll, and burning man roll. My favs would have to def be the calamari with snowcrab and the upside down roll! The sauce for the upside down roll was delicious. Words cannot describe it aha. There were a lot of other special rolls on the menu that I wanted to try, so I shall be back soon to finish off that list for the special rolls.

After months of waiting, I've finally had the pleasure of dining at Taste of Tokyo! I had pretty high expectations from what everyone has said so far, and am happy to say these expectations were met. My sister and I came around eight o' clock on a Friday evening and the place was crowded; luckily we only waited for about five minutes for a table. Based on recommendations from friends and Yelpers, we decided to get the Pepper Tuna Sashimi, Calamari Crunchy Roll, Birthday Cake Roll, and the ever so popular Upside Down Roll. I was practically bouncing in my seat when the rolls came out. Our faves were definitely the Birthday Cake Roll and the Upside Down Roll. These rolls were fantastic and unique, which is what I look for when trying new sushi joints. They definitely get an "A" from me. The Calamari Roll was good, but not exceptional as I thought it was going to be. The Pepper Tuna was also good and fresh, though I wish they served Beef Tataki. For dessert, we got the Brownie Tempura, since we have yet to try a place that actually serves this! This too was also completely satisfying and an excellent way to end a delightful meal. The brownie was savory, but not to the point to where it was overwhelming. I was definitely happy about that since I'm not the biggest chocolate lover. The service was nothing short of exemplary. The servers checked on us consistently to make sure we were okay and constantly re-filled our drinks. I'm happy to say I left Taste of Tokyo a happy camper and look forward to returning. Taste of Tokyo is a true gem and one of the best Japanese restaurants in the city, if not THE best.

I'm a true sushi lover and was super excited to have a place so close to home. I'm sorry to say i'm disappointed after giving this place a fair trial. The first time my husband and I dined in we tried a bit of everything. Aside from a sweet and sour style tempura shrimp appetizer served in a martini glass, nothing was special. My husband and I go for sushi, sashimi, and rolls w/and w/out raw fish. My parents won't' go near any of that but enjoy tempura and hibachi. So one evening I ordering about 3 entrees, 2 appetizers, and a roll or two for myself. The portions seemed a lot smaller upon take-out vs. dining in. They left out a small part of my order. Despite the fact that my order was just under $100 they weren't very friendly when I went to pick it up. That's in contrast to when we dined in closer to right after they opened, the owner was kissing ass left and right. I've lived in this neighborhood all my life, so I have to say I miss the restaurant that used to be there(mimi's). As far as restaurants go, people in this hood seem to be fickle. I know this place is still young, but I also know that there's a second location that's been around longer. I also have to say, I think they're a little over priced and they charge for things like spicy mayo on the side. Just feels tacky to me. Due to convenience and my love of sushi, I'll give this place another shot. Maybe they'll get their service issues ironed out, but my expectations aren't super high. Bummer!
(2)T H.
my standouts 1. nice decor and ambiance 2..I like the little soup appetizer. smokey flavor nice beginning to meal 3. I had the scallop roll and it had large fresh scallops in it. but I asked for fresh(raw) as it usually comes seared so I can't speak to how it usually comes. Overall from the 3 or 4 times I've been there the food has been just fair but over priced. Service has been very mediocre. lackluster and absent minded.. I am very forgiving in this area but in the few times I've been there its been the same. Granted I've had the same server at least 2-3 times. All and all, the only reason I'd be back is because it's so close. There are many other choices that have better quality for the price. Hope they can step it up because I liked the idea of having more choices close to home

Wow, this place really blew me away! Normally when I go to a sushi restaurant I rarely order rolls and stick with entrees because rolls taste very bland to me. This is not the case for Taste of Tokyo, I went there for a birthday party recently and there were different rolls everywhere. Each one I tried tasted fantastic! I've lived in the New Orleans area for about 20 years and I'd have to say hands down this was the best sushi experience I have ever had. This place is a good 20 min from my house but I'll be sure to come back often!

I love this restaurant! The food, service and atmosphere are all top notch! I highly recommend the Burning Man Roll, the Pookie Roll and the Tuna Classic Roll. I like the fact that you have more than one person waiting on you...there is not much waiting as everyone is attentive to your needs. The waiters ask questions to see what you are liking then they make recommendations on future selections. My favorite waiter's name is Danny, same as mine.

I've seen alot of advertisement on FB for this place . I was very skeptical about it but I'll give this place a shot even though it was a little far from home for me. The place was very cute . The server was very friendly and the owner was super nice ! The menu offer a alot of different rolls and sashimi plate I don't usually see at most place. I was excited because I love trying out new things. I now have my new favorite dish which is the pickled mackerel sashimi. OMG !!! I never knew it existed until the owner recommended it to me. That's two of my favorite things combined , pickle stuff and mackerel. I ordered the ceviche and all the fish was very fresh. The fried stuff portabella mushroom was so delicious and very different .My boyfriend and I do not care for desert when we go out to eat. However ,the owner gave us a complimentary desert so we can see what we're missing out on. The desert was vanilla ice cream and fried oreo. I do not like eating sweets at all but wow ! It wasn't really sweet and it went great with the ice cream. I swear if this place was closer to me ,I'll be here everyday. I'll definitely be back because it's worth the drive.
